The high season is in full swing, and the events calendar is full to overflowing! You'll find something for every interest. We have two brew-fests, the season's first art festival, some wonderful sporting events, and the first big horse show of the seasonAnd we have some great musical events, including shows by Melissa Ethridge, Nelly, Smokey Robinson, and more!

 

Coachella Desert Circuit Horse Show, Oct 30 - Nov 10

   

One of the best equestrian events of the season takes place this month at the Desert International Horse Park in Thermal. The National Sunshine Series is your chance to watch world-class riders and horses compete in this 2-week series of hunter and jumper events. The venue offers a VIP pavilion featuring gourmet cuisine and several other great dining options.

Greater Palm Springs Pride, Nov 1 - 3

   

The weather will be perfect for Coachella Valley’s biggest LGBTQ gathering of the year. As in years past, the festival features a parade, several music stages, DJs, food vendors, and a variety of local entertainers. So enjoy the three days of fun, food, and dancing, and don’t miss the Saturday night headliners — four-time Grammy® award-winning best-selling girl-group TLC.

McCormick’s Classic Car Auction, Nov 22 - 24

   

For those passionate about classic cars, it doesn’t get any better than this! For 3 days you’ll see some of the best, hard-to-find, classic cars under one roof at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Admission on Friday is FREE and there will be a Champagne Happy Hour 11am - 12 noon on Friday.

Brew in LQ, Nov 2

 

We have two fantastic brew fests, starting with the 5th annual Brew in LQ event on Nov 2. The event features over 15 breweries pouring ales, pilsners, stouts, lagers and more. Local food vendors will be on hand to offer a variety of food, including pizza, burgers, tacos, sandwiches and Vietnamese fusion. Music will be provided by DJ Francesca Harding spinning top pop, hip-hop, R&B, and country hits.

Props & Hops Craft Beer Fest, Nov 23

   

With over 25 craft breweries represented, the 8th annual Props & Hops festival is one of the largest beer fests in the country. Held at the Palm Springs Air Museum, you’ll enjoy aircraft rides on vintage aircraft, a variety of food trucks, including In-N-Out Burger, and live music by The Alley Cats — showcasing the greatest hits of the 50’s & 60’s.

USA Pickleball National Championships, Nov 2 - 10

   

Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, and we are fortunate to host the Margaritaville USA Pickleball National Championships at the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens this month. As the world’s largest pickleball tournament, you’ll witness 2,000 players competing on 45 pickleball courts in 140 different professional and amateur divisions. It’s a great opportunity to experience the Tennis Gardens before the big crowds arrive in March!

Wildlights at The Living Desert, Nov 27-Dec 28

   

If you like The Living Desert, you like it even more all lit up for the holidays! With more than one million holiday lights throughout the park, you’ll get a totally different view of the park at night. Open from 6pm-9pm nightly starting Nov 27, you’ll enjoy hot chocolate & s’mores, visits with Santa Claus, a holiday-themed edition of the model train display, holiday music, and more! Over 30,000 visitors toured the park last holiday season, and this is one of the area’s most popular holiday attractions!

Leslie Jordan, Nov 16-17

   

He was Karen Walker’s nemesis on “Will and Grace”, and Brother Boy in “Sordid Lives”. Now you can see the very funny Emmy award-winning Leslie Jordan’s one-man show, (Over) Exposed!, playing for two nights at the Palm Springs Cultural Center. The show offers real-life stories of his childhood and entertainment career, told in the twisted, humorous way that only Leslie Jordan can!

Rancho Mirage Art Affaire, Nov 9-10

   

Are you ready for the first art festival of the season? You won’t want to miss the Rancho Mirage Art Affaire, where you’ll have two days to admire and purchase a variety of paintings, drawings, sculptures, jewelry and apparel from artists around the country. The event is held at the Rancho Mirage Community Park and will feature food from Acqua California Bistro, a beer and wine garden hosted by the Rotary Club, and a variety of hands-on projects for the kids. Oh, and don’t forget the live music if you love jazz, Mowtown & blues!

Date Harvest Festival, Nov 9

   

In an area known for festivals, we can now add one more to the list — the inaugural Date Harvest Festival! Celebrating one of the valley’s most famous products, the festival will include an Artisan Food Tent, food trucks, a main stage with live entertainment, and a “Harvest Dinner Under The Stars” — a 5-course meal with wine and date pairings. It’s a family-friendly event, so bring the little ones and have a great time!

Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival, Nov 22-24

 

The 6th annual Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival & Food Truck Fiesta — whew … that’s a mouthful! … returns to the area this month. The event brings over 30 whimsical & specialty hot air balloons to Cathedral City for 3 days of family fun. Have a fear of flying? Then try the tethered balloon rides that keep you tethered to the ground! Enjoy 15 of the top food trucks in Southern California and get your group selfies in the Instagram Garden. This year’s event adds the Healthy Life Fest which transforms Town Square Park into a village of lifestyle enthusiasts promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Joshua Tree Half Marathon

 

The Joshua Tree Half Marathon is unique … it’s a challenging 13-mile run through the Mojave Desert just minutes outside of Joshua Tree National Park. Oh, and it starts at sundown! So if you’re up for a tough run through the desert under the stars at night, this one’s for you. The race expo runs from 10am - 5pm at the Joshua Tree Lake RV & Campground, the sun sets at 5:51 and the race starts at 6:15pm.

More Homes Sold In The Palm Springs Area Last Month

 

It’s official … our seasonal visitors are quickly returning to the desert and we are fast entering the prime selling season here in the Palm Springs area. The transport vehicles are dropping off cars from the north, the Costco is busy with visitors stocking their winter homes for the season, and it’s starting to get a bit more challenging to book that favorite restaurant!

 

Our most recent year-over-year, September 2019 vs. September 2018 data shows (+8.4%) more homes sold last month in the area. The luxury market continues to perform well, with the number of homes sold up (+37.5%) in the $1M price bracket.  The $500-$999,999 price range showed strength last month with a healthy (+17.7%)  increase in the number of homes sold. The under $500K price range was up (+3.4%) with 546 units sold.

The biggest jump in average selling prices was in the $1M+ price range, with a (+14.6%) increase in average selling price. The under $500K price range showed a modest (+4.4%) increase in selling prices and selling prices in the $500-$999,999 price range showing a slight (-1.6%) decline.
