Strong Home Sales Start Off The New Year!

We got a strong start to the new year in the Palm Springs area with a healthy increase in the number of homes sold compared to January of last year. A total of 740 homes were sold in January, a 19.2% increase over the number sold this time last year.  Overall buyer activity remains strong, but the low inventory is making it difficult for buyers to find the perfect home.

Let’s look at the three key market indicators, Average Sold Price, Number of Homes for Sale, and Number of Days on Market, for a good snapshot of the Palm Springs area real estate market.

The average home sale price last month in the Palm Springs area was $494,922, a (-2.98%) decrease over the same month last year.  Homes sold in an average of 79 days, with days on market remaining constant compared to last year. There were 3,785 homes for sale last month, a (-17.2%) decrease over this same time last year. Inventory continues to be below average, even as we see our usual seasonal increase in buyer activity.
