It’s a great time to check out local venues that keep the music going all summer long, and relief from the hot summer heat is available at nearby Idyllwild, Big Bear Lake, and Pappy & Harriet’s.

 

 

Restaurant Week, May 31 - June 9

It’s that time of year again … and another excuse to hit the local restaurants … it’s time for Palm Spring Restaurant Week. With more than 100 restaurants offering specially priced meals — many offering 2-course lunch menus as well as 3-course dinner menus — it’s the perfect opportunity to stop outside your normal routine and try a new restaurant or two.  Lunch menus are priced at $15, $20 & $25 while dinner menus are priced at $29, $39 & $49.

Palm Springs ShortFest 2019, June 18-24

June continues our tradition brining the best film festivals to the area … the Palm Springs International ShortFest celebrates it’s 25th anniversary as it brings 100 of the world’s most acclaimed short films to the desert. Selected from over 5,000 submissions, the 100 short films presented represent the best of the best. You’ll enjoy a variety of films, parties at the Sagurao, Ace Hotel, Spa Casino, several forum panels, and a special awards brunch at the Riviera Hotel.

Splash House - June 27 - 9

With temperatures rising, it’s the perfect time for a pool party! And what a pool party it is … Splash House is actually 3 pool parties in one! Enjoy some of the the hottest DJs — including Robbie Rivera & Amand Van Helden — poolside at The Renassiance, The Riviera and the Saguaro hotels ,along with the after hours open-air dance parties at the Palm Springs Air Museum.

Idyllwild Songwriters Festival - June 13-16

If you want to escape the heat and enjoy some chill music, you won’t want to miss the Idyllwild Songwriter’s Festival! Founded by Grammy-nominated songwriter Brett Perkings — he’s worked with artists from Natalie Imbruglia to Johnny Cash —   the festival showcases talented songwriters performing their original works all weekend long … and best of all … it’s FREE!

Lavender Festival, Through June 30

Take a short 40-minute drive from Palm Springs to the Highland Springs Ranch & Inn in Cherry Valley and enjoy the lavender harvest Thursdays-Sundays all month long. You’ll stroll through the winding lavender fields, enjoy guided tours, taste lavender-inspired dishes, and relax to the live music. And don’t forget to take a bit of lavender home from the organic marketplace!

Dive-In Movies

As temperatures rise, what better place to watch a movie that right in the swimming pool? The Palm Desert Aquatic Center features a new movie each month, and this month you can watch Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse poolside on June 13th. The movie starts at sunset and tickets are only $4.

 Our Hot Market Continues … Homes are Selling Fast!

Trendvision’s® most recent year-over-year, April 2019 vs. April 2018 Report shows (-7.5%) fewer homes sold last month and inventory remains low thought the Palm Springs area. The number of homes sold was down (-10.0%) in the under $500K price bracket, down (-6.1%)in the $500-$999,999 price range, and up (+11.0%) for homes selling for over $1M.

 

Inventory constraints eased slightly again this month in both the under $500K and $500-$999,999 price ranges, with inventory increases of (+1.3%) and (+2.3%) respectively. Inventory dropped (-4.1%) in the $1M+ price range over the same period last year. 


 

Average selling prices rose (+9.0%) for homes priced $1M+ while remaining essentially flat in the other price bands.

A short drive from Palm Springs, and built as a frontier town for filming movies in the 1940’s - 1950’s, Pappy & Harriets is now a thriving music venue that has seen shows by Leon Russell, Robert Plan, and Paul McCartney, as well as a variety of local and regional artists. It’s a perfect summer getaway as high desert temperatures tend to be a bit cooler than in Palm Springs.
